Locust Fork completed the 2016 season with a 7-4 record. With their 4-2 region record and a third place finish in Class 3A region six, the Hornets earned a spot in the playoffs in 2016. Locust Fork's season came to an end in the first round of the playoffs when they fell to Ohatchee by a score of 49-28. The Hornets last playoff victory came during the 2001 season. They would love to break through this year with a post season win. Since 2010, Locust Fork has gone a combined 30-42. Their 38.0% winning percentage ranks 47th in Class 3A and 297th in the AHSAA. The Hornets are led by head coach Chris Musso who is entering his fifth season at the helm. Last year the Carbon Hill Bulldogs finished with an overall record of 1-9 and in seventh place in Class 3A region four. The Bulldogs closed out the regular season with a loss to Curry by a score of 70-46. Locust Fork and Carbon Hill have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Hornets have a 1-1-0 record against the Bulldogs. They last met in 2016 with Locust Fork winning by a score of 27-6. Locust Fork returns 3A All-State Junior kicker Jose Hernandez.
